Precision Dimension Measurement SystemsZ-Mike bench-top dimensional measurement systems provide fast, accurate, and repeatable measurement of parts. This laser measurement device does not touch the product, thereby eliminating part distortion and operator influence which can affect measurements. The Z-Mike gauges can either be used in a Quality Control (QC) laboratory or on the plant floor to measure a range of part types and part dimensions. Dimension measurements include diameter, multiple ODs, TIR, taper, and part position. The Z-Mike gauges are available in four different models and provide a measurement range of 0.001 to 2.0 in. (0.0254 to 50 mm) with linearity as low as ±0.000020 in.

  • The Z-Mike line also includes the PrecisionScan laser gauges for applications where a bench-top
    solution is not required.
  • A variety of Modular Fixtures are available for any gauging need to properly hold workpieces.

Measure parts with the highest accuracy.

Patented optical design and edge-sensing electronics provide high-precision measurements. Auto-compensation features maintain accuracy throughout the measurement range and adjust for thermal expansion outside laboratory environments.

Get reliable measurements from run to run.

Non-contact measurement technique provides the same level of accuracy, regardless of operator. Tolerance checking alerts operators of out-of-tolerance conditions. Mounting fixtures ensure the test piece is always properly presented to the gauge.

Easy-to-use features.

Touch-screen design and color graphical display provides a simple, yet powerful user interface. Use the library list to store product recipes and quickly, easily access product types. Several I/O ports provide flexible integration with other devices.

Lump and Neckdown DetectorThe LN Detector series of products are designed for detection of short-term faults in the diameter of the cable (lumps or neckdowns). LN Detectors are self-contained instruments with fast response circuitry and solid-state infrared light sources that allow instant detection of changes in the cable diameter. Beta LaserMike offers a range of models to meet your unique cable measurement needs.

The LN3015 3-Axis Lump & Neck Detector is newest solution in fault detection from Beta LaserMike.

Instantly detect lumps.

When the voltage drops below the minimum quality threshold, the LN gauge detects a lump in the cable.

Instantly detect neckdowns.

When the voltage exceeds the maximum quality threshold, the LN gauge detects a neckdown in the cable.

Accurately control your process.

The signal processing and intelligence is built into the gauge head and outputs can be taken straight from the LN Detector that trigger alarms or marking devices when faults are detected.

On-Line Structural Return Loss PredictionSRL Pro software from Beta LaserMike provides on-line structural return loss (SRL) prediction and analysis. By monitoring process variables at extremely high speeds, SRL Pro identifies potential causes of SRL problems on datacom cable insulation lines in real time. When datacom cables fail post-process compliance inspection and must be downgraded, the profitability of the entire run is lost. That is why the capability of detecting SRL problems before the run is completed allows an investment in SRL Pro to often be recovered in a matter of weeks or even days.

  • 8 user-defined channels for analysis of process variables
  • Dedicated multi-channel filter module
  • Automatic identification of suspect SRL sources
  • FFT and SRL performance trending
  • Long-term spectrograph to view process data over time
  • Simple, user-friendly operation.

Drift-Free, In-Process Capacitance Measurement SolutionAs datacom cable manufacturers face more challenging specifications for Structural Return Loss, Near- and Far-end Cross Talk and Attenuation, it’s more important than ever to catch problems as they develop – not after the fact. Because downgrading or rejecting finished cable robs you of productivity and profitability. That’s why correlating in-process and post-process measurement results accurately and consistently is so important.

The CapScan 2000 gauging system solves this problem by enabling you to correlate in-process and post-process measurements through on-line, high-speed measurement of cable capacitance. A combination of low signal-to-noise ratio and proprietary, drift-free electronics enable the system to deliver highly accurate and consistent measurements. With a local intelligence module directly connected to the measurement head, the CapScan 2000 system can communicate directly to DataPro controllers or other host systems.

Range of gauge heads to meet your application needs.

CapScan offers various gauge heads for measuring cables up to 25 mm (1 in.). Includes new increased bandwidth to 10 GHz. Options include in-head FFT analysis. Gauges can be mounted in-trough and used for a broad scope of communication cable applications.

Flexible connectivity.

For maximum flexibility, CapScan 2000 models are available in Profibus, DeviceNet, and RS-232 versions. This makes connecting to your PLC, PC, or Beta LaserMike controller easier than ever before.

Easy access to measurement data.

The CapScan 2000 system can be easily connected to the KI1000 indicator unit for simple, reliable data indication. The KI1000 connects to the gauge via CANBUS, one of the most robust data links available today. This provides quick response, so you can monitor product changes as they occur.

Non-Contact Eccentricity Measurement SystemWhen the core of insulated wire and cable moves off-center, your product quality suffers. And with the increasingly tighter tolerances demanded by users, unchecked wire or cable eccentricity can leave you with reels of unusable product.

The CenterScan 2010 measurement system accurately and reliably monitors the diameter of insulated wire and cable, and eccentricity of conductors, during extrusion and insulation processes. This intelligent gauge never touches your product and enables you to run higher line speeds and produce more finished wire and cable in less time while maintaining the highest level of measurement accuracy.

Compact design meets broader installation requirements.

Install CenterScan at a wider range of production line locations to reliably monitor the diameter of insulated wire and cable, and eccentricity of conductors, during extrusion and insulation processes. Robust electronics with superior immunity to noise allows you to locate the gauge closer to other line devices to deliver the most accurate measurements.

Fast, easy setup and operation.

CenterScan 2010 is factory calibrated and requires no special adjustments or setups to get your wire or cable properly centered and ready to run. Requires no servo or mechanical tracking system or special guide rollers to keep your product centered. And, it is less sensitive to wire or cable position allowing your product to be set within a 6 mm (.24 in) window.

Capture measurements with the highest accuracy.

Specially-engineered, optical and inductive technology lets you perform ultra-accurate, low-drift measurements and accurate product positioning. Use the DataPro 5000 to monitor and control product and process-critical information including wire and cable position, diameter, eccentricity, ovality, and wall thickness.

In-Process Wire HeatingPreheaters from Beta LaserMike provide uniform, in-process wire heating to eliminate insulation voids in primary cables. When a wire is preheated for only fractions of a second by a low frequency (50/60 Hz) heat cycle, the heat is unevenly applied to the wire, resulting in hot and cold spots. When high frequency preheating is used, more heat cycles are applied to the wire, ensuring more consistent heating all along the length of the wire. For this reason, all Beta LaserMike Preheaters use high frequency heating. Beta LaserMike offers a full range of models to meet your unique wire preheating needs.

Industry leading safety features.

Wire break detection, current overload sensors, and a concealed wire path behind the electrically locked door provide peace-of-mind safety to your equipment, process, and personnel.

Flexible temperature interface

External temperature controller interface allows compensation for low-speed applications and varying input temperatures.

Efficient power control.

All preheater components are carefully designed to ensure that power losses are minimized and all input power is used to heat the wire.
