The MGS Group History: Following the acquisition of Northampton Machinery in May 2003, the enlarged MGS Group is continuing to establish its position as a leading equipment supplier to the wire and cable industry.
A new Sales And Service Center was opened in Northampton, England in September 2003 to complement the brand new 70,000 sq. ft. facility of MGS Manufacturing in Rome, New York. The MGS Group is fully equipped with sales, technical, and manufacturing facilities in both locations. Innovative new products are progressively being designed and introduced to the market at the company's R&D facility in Branford, Connecticut.
The MGS Group consists of MGS Manufacturing, HALL Industries and Northampton Machinery. All are well known, established suppliers of high quality wire, cable and fiber optic machinery with sales throughout the world. MGS was formed in 1969 in Rome, New York and in 2002 completed its sixth expansion by relocating to a new facility in the Griffiss Business and Technology Park. HALL Industries, acquired by MGS in 1994, was formed in 1972 by Marcus Hall to supply product-handling equipment to the wire and cable industry. Today the HALL product line includes a full range of product handling systems to the wire, cable, fiber optic and telecommunications industries including a new fully automatic packaging system. Northampton Machinery, founded in 1902, has supplied high-speed wire and cable stranding equipment, throughout the world, since the 1950s. Northampton supplies a complete range of machinery to the data and communications, automotive, house wiring and power cable sectors, from fine wire bunching and cable twinning through a large rigid and planetary armoring stranders.
