Lang Tube Tec will present its new fully electric tube bending machine 160CNC-EMR at the Tube trade fair – Hall 5, Stand B20

 As a company specialising in tube bending machines, Lang Tube Tec GmbH from Witten will present a special world’s first at Tube 2016, the international tube and pipe trade fair held in Düsseldorf. With its new 160CNC-EMR, quality manufacturer Lang Tube Tec will showcase the world’s first ever fully electric tube bending machine, which can bend tube diameters of up to 165 mm at three stacks with a bending radius of 1*D (Hall 5, Stand B20). The new 160CNC-EMR from Lang Tube Tec has 13 axes and an extremely robust construction, and has been specifically designed for the machining of particularly complex bent components with different radii and short clamping lengths. The new tube bending machine is optionally available completely housed.

"It is great that we can again demonstrate our major innovative capacity at Tube and present another absolute highlight. It was two years ago that we started the lift table revolution in Düsseldorf with the 80CNC-EMR. Now we have gone even further with the 160CNC-EMR and we are revolutionising the production of exhaust pipes, axle and frame parts as they are required in the automotive industry and especially in the commercial vehicle industry, and even in aerospace and shipbuilding industry," remarks Sabine Neff, Sales Director at Lang Tube Tec.

For the 160CNC-EMR, the machine specialist combines XXL processing and ease of use with minimal space requirements. While similar machines are reduced to two bending stacks, one above the other, for tube diameters of 160 mm, the innovation from Lang Tube Tec now manages an additional stack. Thanks to a specially designed new drive gear with high torque and compact design, the loading height is 1,300 mm. "In the development of the machine, we have paid particular attention to its ergonomics. This is not possible, of course, with the usual standard gears that are widely available in the market. That is why we have integrated a special gearbox in the new 160 machine," explains Project Manager Björn Brunner.

Another highlight in the features of the new 160CNC-EMR from Lang Tube Tec is the separate drive for bend die return. This enables the bending die to be driven back regardless of the bending arm, which in turn increases flexibility, especially when bending complicated parts with compound clamp dies. Lang Tube Tec has also optimised the wiper die setting in the new 160CNC-EMR. The wiper dies can be separately set with vernier and scale for each bending stack so that the values and bend parameters can be saved in the programme and later retrieved.

"This minimises the set-up times and increases productivity. This is exactly what our customers expect," underlines Sabine Neff. From the perspective of rapid operational readiness change-over, the tool change was also improved by fixing the pressure die simply hooking it into T-slots, as well as use of the innovative swivel mode for the tie rods.

It is clear that the 160CNC-EMR already meets the requirements of the Industry 4.0 standard via its Bend Motion Control system and its digital servo drives. The integration into networks is just as possible as the direct connection to CAD systems, operating or machine data logging systems. PCs, smartphones or tablets can be used as interfaces for communication. The machine’s integrated self-diagnosis functions and evaluation enable the machine logbook to be automatically used as a data pool for the maintenance department.

Thanks to its intuitive control panel, the CNC-E series from Lang Tube Tec can even be controlled by operators without prior experience of CNC. Since the position of tube clamping and pressure die support is torque controlled, the machine automatically compensates for variations in tube batches. Bendability of tube configurations can be checked in advance via a powerful simulation programme so that any corrections can be made before machining. In addition, the tool detection via bar code prevents operating errors through the verification of matching between programmed and fitted tool. The graphic simulation of the bending process significantly increases the availability of the 160 CNC-EMR from Lang Lube Tec.

Lang Lube Tec has already built two of the new 160 CNC-EMR machines, has tested them extensively within the scope of customer projects, and has successfully sold them. Orders have already been placed for two more machines of this type including the cutting process in the machine. The machine is therefore an excellent addition to the new product range from Lang Tube Tec and customers can look forward to a reliable and thoroughly tested series-production status.

Tube 2016, the international tube and pipe trade fair held at the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Centre, will once again be a magnet for experts and decision-makers from industry, trade and commerce. The focus will be on machines for the production and machining of tubes, as well as raw materials, accessories, tools for process engineering and measurement and control technology.
