The award recognizes the significant contributions of GM's suppliers in 2008 as part of the company's global product and performance achievements. The announcement was made during the 17th annual awards presentation held at the GM Heritage Center in Warren, Michigan on Friday, June 5.
Molex, the only connector supplier to be recognized, provides GM with the interconnection solutions that help its in-vehicle electrical architecture perform in harsh automotive environments. Tom Favazza, global account manager, Molex Automotive said, "It is a privilege to receive this distinction from GM, one of our most valued customers. The award underscores our commitment to developing innovative products and providing superior customer service."
The Supplier of the Year program started in 1992, and each year a global team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives determines the winners. The decisions are based on supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.
