Turkish steel producer Borçelik has commissioned international technology Group ANDRITZ to supply a state-of-the-art furnace for a new combined galvanising and annealing line for the production of automotive materials.
The plant, which will be integrated into the new cold-rolled strip mill in Bursa, Gemlik region, will produce hot-dip galvanised strip for automotive outer skin applications as well as uncoated strip. Commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2026. Details of the order value were not disclosed.
The furnace supplied by ANDRITZ comprises a radiant tube annealing and holding zone as well as a combined holding and slow cooling zone with an innovative differential rapid jet cooling system. It is designed so that it can be operated both in continuous galvanising line (CGL) mode, in which the strip is cooled after the zinc bath, and in continuous annealing line (CAL) mode, in which the strip is passed through the overageing zone without a zinc bath. A complete zinc bath bypass zone is also provided for the CAL mode.
The furnace has room for future expansion, allowing Borçelik to increase capacity or add additional steel grades to production. By choosing ANDRITZ furnace technology, Borçelik emphasises the company's expertise and extensive references in the processing of automotive steels.
