Corrosion prevention specialist Denso, Inc. has launched Archco 456, an advanced two-component, high-build epoxy coating engineered to enhance the performance and durability of pipeline systems in demanding operating environments.
Developed for critical applications such as natural gas pipelines, Archco 456 combines high mechanical strength, excellent adhesion and superior abrasion resistance, ensuring long-term protection against corrosion and wear. Its surface-tolerant formulation simplifies application across a range of substrate conditions, increasing flexibility for operators and contractors.
A key advantage of the new coating is its single-coat application, which significantly reduces application time and labor costs without compromising protective performance. Once applied, the coating forms a hard, smooth and glossy internal surface that improves pipeline efficiency by minimizing friction.
With a low surface tension of 27 dynes, Archco 456 reduces turbulence within the pipe, optimizing flow dynamics and enabling higher gas throughput rates. This contributes to improved operational efficiency and potential cost savings over the lifecycle of the pipeline.
The coating is designed to meet or exceed API RP 5L2 standards, ensuring compliance with industry requirements and reliable performance in oil and gas, energy and infrastructure applications. Its properties make it particularly suitable as an internal lining for pipelines, where flow efficiency and durability are critical.
With Archco 456, Denso underscores its commitment to delivering high-performance solutions for modern pipeline systems, supporting operators in improving efficiency, extending asset life and reducing maintenance requirements.
