Baosteel Steel Pipe awards SMS group contract for two new PQF® seamless tube mills

SMS group has received a new order from Baosteel Steel Pipe (Ma'anshan) Science and Technology Co., Ltd. to supply two complete PQF® (Premium Quality Finishing) seamless tube rolling plants for its production site in Ma'anshan, Anhui Province, China.

The scope of supply includes all core rolling equipment, featuring cone roll piercing mills, PQF® BCO mills and stretch reducing mills designed for different tube size ranges. SMS will also provide PQF® stand redressing machines and KR roll groove dressing machines for the stretch reducing mills.

In addition to the mechanical equipment, SMS group will supply the complete Level 1 automation system, the Technological Measurement System (TMS), and the CARTAneo® process technology software. The integrated automation package incorporates advanced crop end control, wall thickness control and comprehensive metrology data analysis throughout the rolling process.

PQF® technology enables high productivity, excellent dimensional accuracy and reduced operating costs while minimizing downtime. Compared with conventional seamless tube production lines, the technology delivers improved process stability, higher product quality and greater operational efficiency.

The order further strengthens the long-standing partnership between Baosteel Steel Pipe and SMS group and highlights the continued demand for advanced seamless tube manufacturing technology.
