On 1 July 2025, Claudia Freitag will take over the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Benteler Steel/Tube. As Vice President Finance and Controlling, she was previously responsible for the Finance and Controlling departments. In future, her responsibilities will also include the Compliance and Strategy, Communication and Innovation departments. As part of this change, Tobias Braun, who has held a dual role as CFO of the Benteler Group and CFO of Benteler Steel/Tube since September 2022, will concentrate fully on his duties on the Group Executive Board from July 2025.
„I am very pleased that we have found an excellent candidate for the CFO function at Benteler Steel/Tube in Claudia Freitag“, explains Ralf Göttel, CEO of the Benteler Group. „Internal succession planning couldn't work better: Claudia Freitag has continuously taken on more responsibility within the division over the past few years. She will continue the close cooperation with our Group CFO Tobias Braun in her new role - and at the same time provide new impetus at Benteler Steel/Tube.“
Göttel also expressly thanks Tobias Braun for his extraordinary commitment in his dual role, which has been instrumental in driving the successful transformation of Benteler Steel/Tube.
From July 2025, the management team of Benteler Steel/Tube will be composed as follows Claudia Freitag (CFO), Ralph Mathis (Chief Sales Officer) and Thomas Michels (Chief Operating Officer).
Claudia Freitag is married, mother of two children and has been with the company since 2004, when she started as a working student at the Paderborn plant. She has held various positions in Plant and Sales Controlling, headed Central Controlling and was most recently Vice President Finance and Controlling. Benteler is a family affair for her - her father and grandfather were already part of Benteler Steel/Tube.
Benteler Steel/Tube is one of the world's leading manufacturers of seamless and welded quality steel tubes. Sustainability plays a central role: since 2023, the company has been offering innovative steel tubes under the CliMore® brand, which produce up to 85% less CO₂ emissions than conventional products thanks to recycled scrap and the use of green electricity.
