Italian stainless steel manufacturer Cogne Acciai Speciali officially completed the acquisition of Mannesmann Stainless Tubes, a subsidiary of the German steel group Salzgitter, on November 1. The acquisition, announced in February and valued at €135 million, enables Cogne to significantly expand its market presence in seamless stainless steel and nickel alloy tubes. The European Commission approved the acquisition in June.
"Through this acquisition, we are strategically strengthening our position in the seamless tube market and boosting our competitiveness by fully integrating Mannesmann into the Cogne Group," said Massimiliano Burelli, CEO of Cogne.
Mannesmann Stainless Tubes, which operates production facilities in Germany, France, Italy, and the USA, will be rebranded as DMV and will benefit from vertical integration within Cogne’s structures. Cogne itself has long been a producer of stainless steel and nickel-based alloys for demanding industries, including aerospace, automotive, energy, medical technology, food, chemical, plant engineering, and mechanical engineering.
