Russia’s Cybersteel JSC has officially launched its upgraded production facility for cold-formed stainless steel tubes in Pervouralsk. Backed by a RUB 12 billion (approx. $153 million) investment, the plant now boasts a 70% increase in capacity, reaching an annual output of 15,000 metric tons. The modernization aims to strengthen domestic tube manufacturing and limit dependence on Chinese imports.
The project includes more than 150 new equipment units, substantially enhancing automation and production efficiency. Labor productivity has increased by 50%, while the need for manual operations has been significantly reduced. According to the company, this transformation supports Cybersteel’s long-term goal of integrating advanced IT systems into traditional steel production.
Partially financed by a RUB 5.2 billion loan from Russia’s Federal Industrial Development Fund, the expansion also created over 100 new jobs in the Sverdlovsk region. Cybersteel JSC plans to use the new capacity to serve high-tech industries, including the nuclear sector, where seamless stainless tubes are used in steam generator systems.
The company estimates that its new production capabilities could cut Russian imports of seamless stainless steel tubes from China by up to 50%.
