EUROPIPE receives order for north-south pipeline through Lower Saxony
At the end of January, EUROPIPE received an early order from Open Grid Europe (OGE), Essen, for the delivery of large-diameter pipes for the Etzel-Wardenburg (EWA) and Wardenburg-Drohne (WAD) projects. This will enable OGE to complete the projects on schedule. Construction of the two sections of the 138 km pipeline is planned for 2024/25.
The steel pipes in the dimensions 40" (1,016 mm) and 48" (1,219 mm) will be manufactured at the EUROPIPE plant in Mülheim an der Ruhr. EUROPIPE subsidiary MÜLHEIM PIPECOATINGS GmbH will be responsible for the subsequent coating of the pipes.
The new pipeline is intended to secure supplies to private consumers and industry. The two partial pipelines will create the necessary transport capacities to transport the quantities of liquefied gas landed via the Wilhelmshaven LNG terminal onwards to consumers in the south.
All pipes will also be suitable for the subsequent transportation of hydrogen as an alternative energy source. The input material for the production of the pipes will be supplied by the EUROPIPE shareholders, the Salzgitter Group and AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke.
