The gas network operator Open Grid Europe (OGE) is planning a new natural gas supply pipeline from Etzel via Wardenburg to Drohne. The State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology gave the green light for the early start of construction after evaluating, reviewing and responding to the comments received and completing all the necessary preliminary checks, as announced on 11 October.
Construction of the new natural gas pipeline will now begin with the establishment of the pipe storage areas and the preparatory measures for the section from Etzel to Wardenburg.
The Etzel-Wardenburg-Drohne pipeline is intended to secure the supply of natural gas to Germany. It connects to the already completed Wilhelmshaven connection pipeline.
The 60 km long Etzel-Wardenburg section extends from the Etzel storage facility to the OGE compressor station in Wardenburg. The pipeline, which will run underground in future, has a diameter of 1200 mm and is designed for a pressure of 100 bar.
The pipeline construction project entered the planning approval process at the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology in March of this year and was published in April and May. Comments could be submitted until June.
According to OGE, property owners and leaseholders whose land is affected by the construction project can get in touch with their known contacts at the gas network operator.
