The expert jury of the german sustainability award „Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis“ (DNP) has selected Gelsenwasser as a sustainable pioneer in the industry. Once a year, the DNP 2024 honours pioneers for sustainability in the categories of business, architecture, sport, international DNP and, for the first time, health and products. The infrastructure company Gelsenwasser came out on top in the „Water“ category. The award ceremony will take place on 28 November 2024 at the Maritim Hotel in Düsseldorf.
„Gelsenwasser AG – like the other winners of the competition – came out on top in the final because the company has made particularly effective, exemplary contributions to transformation, thus setting an example and sending the right signals to its industry and beyond“, said the jury in its statement.
Gelsenwasser Executive Board member Dr. Dirk Waider explained that „sustainability in all its facets has been both a driving force and a requirement in practice“ for the company for over 50 years - both internally and externally. The DNP is „a visible sign of the enormous performance“ of Gelsenwasser employees – day after day.
According to the company, its sustainability strategy, which is also reflected in its logo, is based on the three-pillar model of sustainable development, „which stands for the simultaneous and equal realisation of environmental, economic and social goals“. The 17 UN sustainability goals, which are included in the region-specific context of Gelsenwasser, are also taken into account - as are the existing management systems.
