Chinese steel pipe manufacturer Hengyang Valin Steel Tube has officially commissioned its new continuous rolling extra-large diameter pipe mill in Hunan Province. The project represents an investment of RMB 3.07 billion (approximately US$450 million) and is designed to produce up to 800,000 tonnes of seamless steel pipe per year.
According to the company, the new production line is the world's largest continuous rolling mill for seamless steel tubes in terms of pipe diameter. It manufactures pipes with outside diameters ranging from 323.8 mm to 630 mm and wall thicknesses between 7.2 mm and 65 mm.
The mill is tailored to supply high-end applications, including large-diameter OCTG and petroleum casing, oil and gas transmission pipelines, as well as pressure vessel tubing. By expanding its production capabilities in the premium seamless pipe segment, Hengyang Valin aims to strengthen its position in energy infrastructure markets and meet growing demand for large-diameter tubular products.
The commissioning ceremony was accompanied by a supply chain cooperation event, underlining the company's focus on strengthening partnerships across the seamless pipe value chain.
