Hi-Tech Pipes Limited is accelerating its expansion programme across India with plans to add another 1 million tonnes of annual production capacity over the next two to three years. The steel tube and pipe manufacturer aims to reach a total capacity of 2 million tonnes per year by FY29.
The expansion covers the company’s operations in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat and is accompanied by a stronger focus on higher-value and specialised steel pipe products.
A key project is the new DFT facility at Sanand Unit-II Phase-3 in Gujarat, which is scheduled to become operational by the third quarter of FY27. Hi-Tech Pipes is also developing an API pipe facility, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of FY27.
At Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh, construction is underway on an integrated manufacturing facility for ERW tubes, specialised solar tubes and other value-added steel products. Commissioning is also expected by the fourth quarter of FY27.
Focus on value-added pipe segments
Hi-Tech Pipes estimates capital expenditure of INR 6.5 billion for the additional 1 million tonnes of capacity. Around INR 2 billion is expected to be invested during FY27, while the remaining expenditure will be spread across FY28 and FY29.
A significant share of the additional production capacity will be allocated to higher-value product segments. DFT and coated steel products are expected to account for a major portion of the expansion, complemented by increased capacity for API pipes and solar torque tubes.
With the investment programme, Hi-Tech Pipes is not only expanding its overall manufacturing footprint but also strengthening its position in specialised steel tube and pipe markets serving infrastructure, energy and solar applications.
