Ukrainian pipe manufacturer Interpipe has completed the acquisition of the former ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) facility in Roman, Romania, effective March 31, 2026. The move marks a strategic milestone as Interpipe establishes its first production platform within the European Union.
Founded in 1951, the Roman facility specializes in the production of seamless steel pipes with diameters ranging from 168.3 mm to 406.4 mm, serving applications in the energy, construction and industrial sectors. The plant also has a strong track record in manufacturing line pipes for onshore and offshore projects, as well as OCTG products for the oil and gas industry.
Through the integration of the Romanian facility, Interpipe aims to expand its production capacity while enhancing operational efficiency and supply chain reliability. The company plans to combine the plant’s existing capabilities with its own vertically integrated steelmaking and technological expertise, with a focus on improving product quality and optimizing production processes.
Customers of the Roman facility are expected to benefit from Interpipe’s global network, technical know-how and extended service capabilities, supporting more reliable deliveries and broader product availability.
According to CEO Luca Zanotti, the acquisition represents a significant step in strengthening the company’s geographic footprint and technological integration. He emphasized that the addition of the Roman facility complements Interpipe’s existing operations and supports its long-term strategy of delivering high-quality pipe solutions with increased capacity and reliability.
Interpipe also plans to integrate the facility’s workforce into its organization and ensure a smooth transition, with a focus on maintaining operational continuity while supporting future growth and innovation. All required regulatory and competition approvals have been obtained in both Ukraine and Romania.
