Advantage, Ambition and Excellence: Three sustainability classes
The CliMore label identifies the three levels at which low-emission steel is produced from scrap using the electric arc furnace and in this way up to 75 % of CO2 emissions can be saved compared with the production of new steel from iron ore in the classic blast furnace route: Advantage, Ambition and Excellence
In the Ambition level, green electricity is also used in the tube mills and to operate the electric arc furnace, with potential savings of up to 85 % of CO2 emissions.
As the highest level, Excellence will also rely on electrification of the plants or green hydrogen as an energy source for process heat in the production of steel and its processing into pipes. This level is not yet available as part of the launch of the new CliMore product brand.
Climate neutrality targeted by 2045
With its "Green Tubes" strategy, BENTELER Steel/Tube has set itself the goal of reducing directly and indirectly generated CO2 emissions (Scope 1&2) to zero by 2030. The plan is also to reduce upstream other emissions (Scope 3) by 30 % by then, and a reduction of these emissions to zero is to be achieved by 2045.
The company's tubes are used, for example, in wind and solar power plants and electric vehicles.
