New memorandum of understanding: paving the way for secure H2 supply in Central Europe
New memorandum of understanding: paving the way for secure H2 supply in Central Europe
Course of the project route planned by the cooperation partners
As announced on 30 October, FluxSwiss, Transitgas, OGE, Fluxys TENP and Snam have signed a memorandum of understanding. This is intended to improve the supply of hydrogen in Central Europe – particularly in Baden-Württemberg, Germany and north-west Italy.
The Memorandum of Under-standing aims to optimise cooperation between the partners and ensure technical and operational compatibility, which also includes „the assessment of necessary changes to the infrastructure and the coordination of timetables for hydrogen ramp-up and commissioning“. The aim is to create an additional H2 source based on the cross-border infrastructure.
In order to facilitate H2 imports from North Africa and optimise access to hydrogen markets in the medium term, promote decarbonisation and make the supply system more versatile, the planned project route will connect Italy with Germany via Switzerland as an Alpine crossing.
