Despite current challenges, there are even greater opportunities for the future: aluminum plays a crucial role as a material in many branches of industry. At ALUMINIUM 2024 in Düsseldorf, the positive mood in the international aluminum industry was clearly noticeable.
With 20,904 visitors from 99 countries (over 2,000 more visitors than in 2018) and 819 exhibitors and partners from 50 nations, the trade fair brought together the entire value chain of the industry from October 8 to 10, 2024 - from raw material suppliers to producers, processors and recycling experts.
Despite topics such as energy supply, supply chains and global competition, ALUMINIUM 2024 showed that the industry is in a strong position.
Michael Köhler, Managing Director of trade fair organizer RX Deutschland GmbH, summed it up aptly: “Optimism and self-confidence characterized the mood at ALUMINIUM 2024 - despite the various challenges in the individual markets. Aluminium remains a decisive factor in the future of numerous industries worldwide - especially when it comes to decarbonization. As the world's leading trade fair, we are not just the global platform, we are an important source of inspiration.”
Paul Voss, Director General of the industry association European Aluminium, emphasized that EU industrial policy plays a key role in promoting innovation and decarbonization.
Aluminum remains a central component of the industrial transformation
Politicians in Germany have also clearly recognized the importance of the aluminium industry and the material.
In his video message to the trade fair, Dr. Robert Habeck, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, said: “The aluminum industry is an important part of the future of Germany and Europe.”
