thyssenkrupp MillServices & Systems is proud to have successfully completed the QUBA certification for its sites in Brandenburg. This underlines the company's commitment to improving the quality of its steel mill slag beyond the legal requirements.
The quality seal of Qualitätssicherung Sekundärbaustoffe GmbH (QUBA) confirms that the company's steelworks slag has been tested, quality-monitored and certified throughout Germany. It also ensures compliance with the requirements of the Substitute Building Materials Ordinance (EBV), making thyssenkrupp MillServices & Systems the second slag processor in Germany and the only one in Brandenburg to receive this recognition.
Dr Michael Dohlen, Head of Research & Development / Quality Assurance at thyssenkrupp MillServices & Systems, emphasises the importance of this award:
"The quality seal recognises our high standards in the production and processing of steel mill slag. It shows that we are making a significant contribution to the raw material transition, as our electric furnace slag is ideally suited for many technical structures in accordance with the German Federal Substitute Building Materials Ordinance."
The two certified sites in Brandenburg an der Havel and Hennigsdorf guarantee that all slag products always meet the strict requirements thanks to their in-house production control in their own laboratory. This underlines the endeavour of thyssenkrupp MillServices & Systems to supply high-quality products and at the same time meet environmental standards.
At a time when sustainability and environmental protection are becoming increasingly important, the circular economy plays an important role, especially in the construction sector, which is responsible for a significant proportion of greenhouse gas emissions, raw material extraction and waste generation in Germany. By utilising circular raw materials such as steel mill slag and continuously investing in research and development, thyssenkrupp MillServices & Systems aims to make processes more sustainable and reduce its environmental footprint.
