Regional hydrogen supply: New partnership between Provaris Energy, Norwegian Hydrogen and Uniper
Provaris, Norwegian Hydrogen and Uniper cooperate
Provaris Energy Ltd and Norwegian Hydrogen AS announce a new collaboration with Uniper Global Commodities SE. The partnership, announced on August 6, aims to strengthen the development of hydrogen supply chains between Norway and other Nordic locations as well as import locations in Northwest Europe. The focus is on the use of Provaris' H2Neo transporters to import and process hydrogen.
The partnership builds on the existing collaboration between Provaris and Norwegian Hydrogen, which was extended in April 2024 to accelerate the development of new hydrogen export sites in the Nordic region. The planned export projects are based on the successful preparatory activities of the FjordH2 project in Norway and will be strategically positioned in areas with strong grid connections and reliable power supplies. These production and export plants will supply Europe with gaseous hydrogen in a cost-efficient manner.
Hydrogen supply is crucial for the energy supply and decarbonization goals of German industry and energy producers. A variety of supply options will ensure the competitiveness of the German economy and the achievement of decarbonization targets.
Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen, added: “We remain strongly committed to working with Provaris since 2022, and I can think of no better buyer than Uniper to support the development of our joint projects. This new agreement is positive for all three parties involved and I am convinced that it will bring strong and tangible results.”
