The GF Piping Systems China plant in Yangzhou has received three stars in the Green Building Certification Report after an almost five-year preparation and application phase. This is the highest national level for sustainable industrial buildings in China. The green building project is based on the Chinese standard “Green Industrial Building Evaluation Standard” GB/T5087-2013.
Certification by category
GF Piping Systems' facility was evaluated in seven categories, including sustainable construction, energy savings and use, water savings and use, material savings and use, control of the external environment and pollutants, the internal environment and operational safety, and operations management. Only industrial buildings that fully meet these criteria receive three-star certification.
“We want to be a sustainability leader, so the project in Yangzhou is an important step for us. To achieve this, we have implemented a number of sustainable technologies, including air conditioning via a geothermal heat pump, recycling of air compressor waste heat, a cooling tower on the roof, the integration of our COOL-FIT system for chillers, rainwater harvesting, and solar systems. The energy and water consumption per unit achieved the highest rank at the national level,” said He Yafeng, Plant Manager at GF Piping Systems Yangzhou.
In addition, the company relied on lightweight steel construction, recyclable building materials, high efficiency in heat preservation, ventilation and lighting, and expanded the treatment of exhaust gases, solid waste and noise.
