Automation specialist Tecnar Automation Ltée has delivered its first Rotoweld pipe spool welding robot to Praj GenX, a wholly owned subsidiary of Praj Industries, marking a significant step toward greater automation in industrial pipe fabrication in India.
The Rotoweld system is designed to streamline and optimize pipe spool welding operations through advanced automation and integrated welding intelligence. At the core of the solution is PerfectPass-iQ, an automatic welding control system that enables consistent, repeatable weld quality while reducing dependency on manual adjustments.
According to Tecnar, the automated welding technology can increase productivity by up to 400 percent, allowing manufacturers to handle large-scale projects more efficiently while maintaining high-quality welding standards. The system also helps address labour shortages by reducing reliance on highly skilled manual welders and improving workflow stability.
Praj GenX plans to use the technology to strengthen its pipe spool welding capabilities and expand workforce opportunities. As part of this initiative, the company has launched a training program to prepare women as Rotoweld operators, highlighting how automation can support a more inclusive industrial workforce while maintaining high-performance manufacturing standards.
The collaboration between Tecnar and Praj GenX reflects the growing adoption of advanced welding automation in India’s industrial sector. As manufacturers seek higher productivity, improved quality and scalable fabrication solutions, automated pipe welding technologies such as Rotoweld are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the country’s ambition to expand its global manufacturing footprint under the “Make in India” initiative.
