Tenaris welcomed representatives from 15 industry-leading exploration and production companies to the second edition of its OCTG Experience in the United States. Following a successful pilot launch in 2025, the two-day program is designed to provide customers with a deeper understanding of OCTG products, manufacturing technologies and field services while fostering closer collaboration across the energy sector.
The workshop brought together engineers and procurement professionals from some of the leading US energy operators. According to Laura Urrutia, Commercial Director at Tenaris, the initiative aims to promote knowledge sharing and encourage collaborative innovation.
“The main objectives of this program are knowledge sharing and inspiring collaborative innovation,” said Urrutia. “By taking a closer look at our products and services, we can provide participants with practical insights that support their day-to-day work.”
The first day of the event took place at Tenaris’s seamless pipe mill in Bay City, Texas. Participants toured the facility and gained first-hand insight into steel grades, OCTG manufacturing, heat treatment and threading processes. On the second day, the group visited the company’s threading facility in Houston, where they observed Tenaris’s RunReady™ services, including pipe measurement, rack drifting, cleaning and dope application.
Attendees also participated in a live demonstration led by Tenaris field service teams and streamed directly from the company’s Rig Direct® Academy rig in Veracruz, Mexico.
“It is really interesting to see how much care and quality control goes into every joint. My favourite part of the experience was the mill tour – it is rare to see manufacturing at this scale and level of sophistication,” said Spencer Flick, Drilling Engineer at Ascent Resources.
According to Colby Felux, Commercial Director at Tenaris, customer feedback plays a key role in shaping the company’s service portfolio.
“Some of our best services have been developed based on customer feedback. This is as much a moment of collaboration as it is of learning. We want to empower our customers to work with us in developing solutions that meet their needs,” Felux said.
Building on the positive response to the program, Tenaris plans to continue hosting future editions of the OCTG Experience in the United States and is preparing to expand the initiative to Canada in the coming weeks.
