The Austrian company Tiroler Rohre (TRM), a producer of ductile cast iron pipes and piles, has opted for an AI solution from Viennese software start-up Nista. According to the company, this will enable it to focus on the increasing requirements in the area of energy efficiency in the future.
Since the beginning of this year, the Tyrolean family business has been relying on an AI-based energy management solution from Nista to exploit undiscovered savings potential: „Our software precisely recognizes anomalies in energy consumption and provides direct indications of possible causes”, says Benjamin Mörzinger, founder of the Viennese start-up.
Initial successes thanks to AI
The introduction of Nista has already had a noticeable impact at TRM, with „concrete savings“ achieved within five weeks thanks to AI-supported analyses, reports Georg Kloger, plant and automation engineer at TRM.
„The measures have not only improved our cost structure, we are also making a further positive contribution to the responsible use of energy.“ The Austrian Energy Agency estimates the average savings potential through energy management at 10 to 20 %.
AI as the key to the energy transition?
The cooperation between the traditional industrial company and the innovative start-up is an example of how artificial intelligence can combine technology and practice. The use of AI in industry will be indispensable in the future with regard to the competitiveness and sustainability of companies and, against the backdrop of the energy transition, digitalization offers a great opportunity to reduce emissions and fossil fuels.
