Vallourec has signed an agreement with Aramco for the supply of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG), strengthening the companies’ long-standing commercial, industrial and technological cooperation. The agreement was concluded during the recent French-Saudi Investment Roundtable Meeting in Paris.
The partnership between Vallourec and Aramco dates back to 1962, when the companies signed an agreement covering the first generations of VAM® connections for OCTG pipes. Since then, the French manufacturer of premium seamless tubular solutions has continuously expanded its activities in Saudi Arabia.
A major step came in 2011 with the establishment of Vallourec Saudi Arabia (VSA) and the opening of an industrial facility in Dammam. The site enables Vallourec to perform pipe heat treatment and threading of premium VAM® connections locally.
In 2022, the companies further expanded their cooperation by signing a long-term agreement for the supply of premium OCTG pipes manufactured in Saudi Arabia.
Further investment in local pipe production
Vallourec is continuing to invest in its Saudi Arabian operations, including R&D activities and projects designed to expand local production capabilities. The objective is to manufacture additional tubular products required for new oil and gas developments in the Kingdom, including projects targeting unconventional resources.
According to Vallourec CEO Philippe Guillemot, the new agreement reflects the mutual trust developed between the two companies over more than six decades. He also highlighted Vallourec’s local industrial footprint as an important factor in ensuring reliable supplies to Aramco despite current logistical constraints.
The latest agreement further reinforces Vallourec’s position as a local supplier of premium seamless OCTG solutions for Saudi Arabia’s energy industry.
