Premium tubular solutions manufacturer Vallourec has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with energy technology company Baker Hughes to advance underground hydrogen storage solutions for the green hydrogen market.
The collaboration is designed to establish closer, long-term cooperation across the industrial hydrogen value chain, including applications such as green ammonia, sustainable fuels, green steel production and clean power supply for sectors such as data centers. Central to the agreement is the future integration of Vallourec’s Delphy hydrogen storage solution with Baker Hughes compression technologies. The partners will focus on optimizing compression-storage configurations, defining efficient operating pressures for each application, and reducing total cost of ownership while improving customer competitiveness.
Delphy is a market-ready underground hydrogen storage system capable of vertically storing up to 100 tons of green hydrogen gas. Engineered for high-pressure performance, minimal surface footprint and advanced safety, the turnkey solution is designed to support large-scale hydrogen storage for industrial applications.
