China declares hydrogen a key technology for the future

China has officially launched the comprehensive development of a national hydrogen economy. At the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, which took place in Beijing from October 20 to 23, 2025, the leadership classified hydrogen as a key “future technology” for the first time.
Federal government and Free State of Bavaria support BMW initiative on hydrogen drives

The BMW Group is receiving financial support from the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi) as part of the European IPCEI initiative (Important Projects of Common European Interest). The funding is for the company's own research and development project, “HyPowerDrive.”.
