The clamping of heavy and asymmetrical workpieces with the largest diameters on lathes is often a special problem. While parts with up to approx. 500 mm are clamped mechanically by hand or automatically (pneumatically or hydraulically) with so-called three- or four-jaw chucks, the face plate takes its place in the case of larger diameters. Face plates, jaw boxes and power clamping screws are the means for tensioning the most diverse workpieces on these large lathes.
With the power clamping screws of the series MSPD, JAKOB Antriebstechnik conceived an innovative clamping spindle type for the workpiece clamping for large machines in its production area "mechanical clamping elements".
The already proven principle of force multiplication by a special wedge clamping system was successfully implemented. The JAKOB power clamping screws were designed right from the start for the highest demands and maximum workpiece weights with the greatest possible operational safety. The user can choose between 7 standard thread sizes from TR 50 to TR 200, which are equally suitable for external and internal clamping.

The double-acting clamping screws are additionally equipped with an internal automatic switchover. The optimized design of the robust wedge mechanism ensures self-locking in every clamping position, as well as a high degree of stiffness, which ensures maximum operational safety. As a result, additional mechanical securing or counter-locking for the threaded spindle may be dispensed with.
